A live grenade that became embedded in a Ukrainian soldier’s body when it was fired at him during a battle with Russian forces was successfully removed during a complex medical operation.
According to the reports of the Ukrainian army, military doctor major general Andriy Verba took responsibility for the operation, even though the grenade could have exploded at any moment, and managed to safely remove it from the soldier’s body.
The grenade did not explode when it entered the soldier’s body, saving his life and giving Dr. Verba the chance to remove it. The surgery was performed without the use of electrocoagulation.
In a post published by the Ukrainian army on Facebook about the case, it was reported that the wounded soldier was in a stable condition and was transferred to the hospital for recovery.
