BellTroX InfoTech Services, a little-known IT company from India, has been providing services to hack the email addresses of politicians and investors around the world for seven years, Reuters reported on June 8.

The company is said to have helped hack more than 10,000 email addresses.

The company started its work in 2013. For more than 7 years, the company has been hacking the accounts of government officials in European and Latin American countries, human rights groups, American investors, and representatives of the judiciary in South Africa and France.

Hacks occurred through the distribution of a large number of infected letters, the sender of which was disguised as relatives and friends of the victim. Thus, the company lured out users’ passwords, or asked them to log in to the Facebook social network.

Customers of the hacks have not yet been found, and the company’s president, Sumit Gupta, said that the organization did nothing illegal. He said that the BellTrox company was engaged in helping private detectives, who themselves provided data for logging into accounts.

The activity of the company became interested in the USA. American law enforcement officers launched an investigation into the activities of BellTrox – in 2015, two investment companies in the United States admitted that they used the company’s services to hack the accounts of marketing specialists. The company’s president, Sumit Gupta, has been declared a fugitive in the United States.
