Topical issues of bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Kazakhstan and the United States of America were discussed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov and the US Ambassador to our country Daniel Rosenblum, Almaty.tv reports with reference to the press service of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The parties reviewed the current situation in the trade and economic sphere, discussed the prospects for strengthening cooperation in the energy and transport and logistics sectors, agriculture, healthcare, education, ecology and raised a number of other issues.
The Prime Minister stressed that Kazakhstan considers the United States a strategic partner both in bilateral and multilateral formats. More than 900 joint ventures are successfully operating in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“As before, we are determined to further deepen and strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation with the United States on the entire agenda of large-scale interaction,” said Alikhan Smailov.
As the Head of Government noted, last year the trade turnover between the countries increased by almost 40% and amounted to $3.1 billion. At the same time, the United States is one of the leaders in terms of direct investment in Kazakhstan. So, last year, the influx of American investments almost doubled and exceeded $5.1 billion. This corresponds to pre-pandemic record levels.
In turn, Daniel Rosenblum stressed that there is a huge potential for further development of Kazakh-American relations based on common interests.
“We want to strengthen investment performance and increase bilateral trade. US companies are interested in expanding their activities in Kazakhstan in various areas. This applies to the mining and metallurgical complex, agriculture, healthcare, information and communication and green technologies, as well as the transport sector,” said Daniel Rosenblum.
He added that about 20 American companies representing a wide range of sectors are planning to form a business mission and visit Kazakhstan this summer.
Following the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to maintain active contacts in all mutually beneficial areas of cooperation.
