Wars are also fought through symbols. The conflict between Ukraine and Russia now sees an intervention precisely in this sense. In Ukraine, car registration plates will no longer be able to use the letters “Z” and “V”. The law establishing this ban was recently disclosed by the service center of the Interior Ministry in Kiev.

The reason behind this decision is the fact that those two letters represent the symbol of war for the Russian forces, which also apply them on their own military vehicles. The ban imposed by Ukraine on car license plates also affects the symbols of the communist and Nazi regimes. Obviously, the symbols of the Russian Federation and its armed forces are also prohibited. It will not even be possible to use personalized license plates.

CAR LICENSE PLATES UKRAINE

The current scheme of car registration plates in Ukraine was defined in 2004. The two initial letters identify the oblast (region) to which they belong. Followed by four digits and another two progressive letters that define the serial code. On the left is the yellow and blue national flag above the international car designation UA.
