Italy’s military supply to Kiev continues, however there appear to be problems with the equipment sent. This results from an article in the Financial Times newspaper.
In an article dated 29/04, which talks about Ukraine’s counter-attack plan and the weapons supplied by NATO, it is characteristically stated that “not all the weapons delivered to Ukraine were in good and functional condition. “Not one of the 20 self-propelled howitzers that Italy provided to Ukraine this year was capable of being used in a war zone, an adviser to the Ukrainian Defense Ministry told us.”
The news was broadcast today by the Italian media, but a few days ago the website 1lurer.amreported that these are weapons that were sent to Ukraine on April 15, the same day that a train with howitzers passed through the Italian railway station in the Italian city of Udine . At the time, the Italian newspaper Open had received confirmation from the Italian Ministry of Defense that these were weapons that were not in working order and that were destined for Ukraine where the necessary repair would be done, and that the shipment of these weapons had been taken over by the Government of Mario Draghi .
According to the website Italy24.press , at the beginning of the hostilities in Ukraine the Italian Government undertook “to recover the M109Ls and supply them to Kiev, after a US-sponsored repair”.
But either the parts “never arrived or proved incompatible with the Italian version of the weapon” with the result that “these cannons have been sitting still for months, waiting to learn their fate”. The website adds that at least some (of them) will be returned for repair “in Italy or Belgium”.
