The Israeli army conducted operations against Hamas in Jabalya and the ground and air forces conducted a targeted raid on a Hamas command and control center, the Israeli military said on Tuesday.

“[Israel army] troops are operating in the area of Jabalya, after completing the encirclement of the Jabalya camp. Over the past day, [Israel army] troops operated in Hamas strongholds and destroyed terrorist infrastructure in the area. During the activity, the [Israel army] took control of key military posts from which attacks on [Israel army] troops have been carried out. The troops struck terrorist infrastructure, located weapons and launchers in civilian compounds, and directed aerial forces to strike numerous terrorists,” the Israeli army said in a statement.

It stated that on Monday, the military troops struck “buildings used by ‘Nukhba’ terrorists for military activity and eliminated other Hamas terrorists.” During the operation, Israeli military said it located and destroyed rockets found in the garden of a residence in the northern Gaza Strip.

Additionally, the Israeli army “conducted a targeted raid on a Hamas Internal Security Forces command and control center in Jabalya where they located observation and control materials, weapons, and maps.”

Moreover, on Monday, “Israeli Navy forces supported ground troops with strikes on dozens of operational targets belonging to terrorist organizations in the Gaza Strip. These targets include compounds from which terrorists attacked and fired mortar shells at the forces.”

Jabalya, north of the Gaza Strip, has been targeted on Saturday where more than 100 Palestinian civilians died and scores more were injured, according to Palestinian news agency WAFA reported. The report said a residential building was targeted by a “massively huge Israeli missile strike.” Israel did not comment on the Jabalya attack.

The war between Hamas and Israel erupted on October 7 when the militant group launched a surprise attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip. Hamas fighters breached security barriers and entered southern Israel. Their incursion was accompanied by a barrage of rockets.

Israel had said the Hamas attacks on October 7 killed 1,200 people, most of them civilians, and the militia, originally, took more than 240 hostages in one of the deadliest attacks in Israel’s history. Immediately afterwards, Israel commenced air campaigns on Gaza and launched the recent ground offensive which has resulted in the deaths of nearly 16,000 Palestinians, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
